Why this doesn't bend the reviews
Commissions never affect what we recommend. The simplest evidence is that we routinely tell readers not to buy books: every review carries a “Not ideal for” list, and our guides name the volumes most people should skip — links and all. A commission is broadly the same whichever book you choose, and nothing when you sensibly choose none. How reviews are written is covered on the methodology page.
About the prices
Prices shown on this site are Japanese list prices before tax (本体価格), as printed on the book and verified against National Diet Library records. They are not the price any given store will charge you — import stock, shipping and exchange rates all move the final number. Treat our prices as a way to compare books, not as a quote.
